I'm Suzanne Lieurance, a fulltime freelance writer, the author of 22 published books, and the Working Writer's Coach. About 12 years ago I decided to quit my job as a classroom teacher to become a full time freelance writer. I gave myself just 3 months--basically, my summer vacation from school--to replace my salary as a teacher or I would have to return to the classroom in the fall.
Well, by the time fall rolled around, I had contracts for over $6,000 worth of writing assignments per month! That was a lot MORE than my monthly salary as a high school English teacher--so even though I enjoyed teaching, I've been a freelance writer and a writing coach ever since, and I've never even THOUGHT about returning to the classroom.
I love my life as a full time freelance writer. I continue to write books--both fiction and nonfiction--as well as articles for magazines and newspapers.
